Description
The volume presents the remaining 12 folia of a late 10th century medical-pharmaceutical codex, found in the bindings of some incunabula, preserved in the Stadtbibliothek of Nürnberg and the University Library of Erlangen. The texts are a rich antidotarium, parts of a simplicia catalogue, treatises from the late antiquity and the prooemium of the so-called Aurelius serving as a systematical introduction to the types of diseases, some unidentified texts, vocabularies, among them a Latin-Old High German glossary (75 glosses with 45 Old High German words). The appendix offers a list of 70 diseases with their definition from a St. Gall manuscript from the 10th century, connected with the Aurelius, that is otherwise known as part of a little compendium for students of medicine. Edition of the texts in full length, register of the vocabulary.
