Description
In this work, new high-temperature protective coatings for Ni-base superalloys were studied, which were produced under the project WING – Efficient coating. With isothermal and cyclic oxidation tests various aging conditions of the coatings were adjusted, which were characterized by means of nanoindentation, scanning electron microscopy and microcantilever tests. Above all, the influence of the chemical composition on the mechanical properties hardness, Young’s modulus and fracture toughness of the main phase of the coatings β-NiAl has been tested. The cantilevers were produced directly in the homogeneous regions of the layers using the FIB technique and so this new method was applied on technical components. In addition to the oxidation protection coatings, single crystalline NiAl samples with different stoichiometry were subjected to the same experiments. The issue of comparability was verified with macroscopic tests 4-point bending tests on single crystal NiAl samples.
