Description
Current social and political aspects demand the reduction of the environmental impact by means of efficient manufacturing processes and weight optimized products. However, this requirement surpasses the limits of conventional production methods. One possibility to approach this challenge is the use of Sheet-Bulk Metal Forming processes in order to manufacture highly integrated, functional parts. Hence, the objective of this work is to create the required knowledge to enable the reliable production of the desired functional elements of different shapes on blanks by application of extrusion operations. For this purpose, a corresponding full forward- and a lateral extrusion process are designed and investigated by numerical and experimental means in order to identify and analyze influences on the process result. Subsequently and based on the ascertained findings, measures are investigated and evaluated to solve determined challenges.
